Tree
Loquat Trees are native to China. They were introduced in New Orleans as early as 1800. In New Orleans, they are often called by their nickname- "misbeliefs". Learn more about the "misbeliefs" nickname and history of loquat trees in the city here.
Fruit
Loquat Trees (aka misbeliefs) produce fruit in the springtime. At first glance, the fruit looks similar to citrus, but it is not a citrus tree. Loquat trees are related to apple, pear, and peach trees and produce fruit every three to four years.
